Primate Waterfall

The Primates Waterfall has a great volume of water in the rainy season, making it one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the city. 

Its access is by trail, the path is short, well signposted and bathing is allowed in the waterfall that gives its name to the trail. It starts at the end of Rua Sara Vilela, in the Jardim Botânico neighborhood, and overlooks the Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon.

Excellent choice for locals or tourists who want a pleasant walk on a hot day and different from everyday places.

The trail to Cachoeira dos Primatas is well signposted and has the footprints of the Transcarioca Trail indicating the way.

 

Most of the walk is done in the shade and the climbs are not very steep.

The waterfall is located inside the  Tijuca National Park – Sector B – Serra da Carioca, Horto Florestal, Rio de Janeiro, RJ.


Distance of Approximately 1.5 km. counting round trip.


Approximately 30 minutes.
