Praia do Flamengo - Rio de Janeiro
Flamengo Beach

The name Flamengo is a reference to the Dutch navigator Olivier van Noort, who tried to invade the city in the 16th century from Praia do Flamengo. People from the Netherlands were historically known as Flemish, as they came from Flanders. According to the most commented version.

Praia do Flamengo is a beach that extends along most of the Aterro do Flamengo.

It is a beach with calm waters, as it is located within Guanabara Bay,  the place is very familiar.

Next to the beach there is the Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes Park, also known as Aterro do Flamengo, the park is a huge grassy and wooded area, along the sea, containing sports courts, a bike path, and places for walking and leisure.
